Manassas Park Resident Opens Paranormal Business

A ghost-hunting business that started in a Blooms Crossing home study last year has expanded.

, hoisted a sign above the doors of her business this month at its new location in the Conner Center at 8487 Euclid Ave. in Manassas Park.

If you're looking for someone to communicate with the dead or peer into your future, then keep on looking; Sorrell said she isn't a medium or psychic, but only does ghost-hunting excursions and tours as well as free, private ghost investigations.

Sorrell, a Manassas Park resident for more than 15 years, said she became interested in the paranormal about nine years ago after watching the television show, Ghost Hunters. Around that time, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and began thinking about the afterlife.

Since then she and her husband have traveled around the country, exploring locations that are said to be haunted, Sorrell said. 

She is also currently working on a book about the paranormal.

Evermore Paranormal is hosting its first event, "Paranormal Night" in October at the , which Sorrell believes to be haunted.

She stumbled upon the case by accident earlier this year when she was visiting the center for another purpose, Sorrell said.

According to Sorrell, people who work and visit the community center said they'd seen apparitions and heard things such as lockers closing by themselves.

Sorrell believes she has gathered "tons of evidence" on the center's "activity."

As a result of the testimony she’s heard, Sorrell began investigating the building and gathered more evidence with ghost-hunting equipment that detects electronic voice phenomena.

Sorrell said she has recordings of unexplained voices that seem to answer questions she’s asked aloud while sitting in a darken room at the center.

She hasn't detected an evil presence, but just the presence of spirits, she added.

“There’s a man, woman and a girl and boy; I’m starting to think it’s a family,” Sorrell believes. 

Sorrell said it’s really exciting, especially because the building seems to be active with spirits during the day.

The new building was constructed over the old recreation center and pool which were demolished; which Sorrell believes could have stirred up the spirits.

Sorrell said there are also two unmarked graves on the premises, but Sorrell said she hasn’t had the chance to thoroughly investigate that area.

“Paranormal Night” is Oct. 27 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the community center.

The entire facility will be closed down for the event which will include a guided paranormal investigation of the center.

The event is for adults 18 and older only. Tickets are $50.
