Your Best Suggestions for Old Target Location in Manassas

We asked and you told us what you would like to see in the former Target in the Manassas Mall.

Big box juggernaut Target packed up and left the Manassas Mall earlier this year and when we asked what should take its place, you readers sounded out. Here are five of the best comments posted under that April 14 Visions for Vacancies article. (There were lots of great comments, by the way, not just five.) Phyllis Camper at 9:28 am on Monday, April 15, 2013: "Initially I thought it would be nice to bring in a high-end retailer (i.e. Lord & Taylor) however when the Mall management chose to put a Wal-Mart at the mall that will forever kill any chance of a high-end retailer seriously considering coming to Manassas Mall. Without a big retailer draw, smaller and nicer stores will not come to our little "country" mall. So I agree with Doug, …

Nothing that goes into this waste of brick and motar will ever survive and we need to stop putting off the inevitable. It's dead and we can not breath life back into it.   more ›

Visions for Vacancies: Old Target Location at Manassas Mall

What could take the place of Target at the Manassas Mall?

The big box super power Target pulled out of the Manassas Mall earlier this year. All that remains is a vacant building and the faded outline of the old red sign. So if you had it your way, what would you like to see in that retail spot? The property faces Sudley Road and Rixlew Lane and could once again be a big box beacon, calling shoppers to the Manassas Mall.  Tell us in the comments section what you would like to see in the vacant spot.

I wouldn't mind a Trader Joes in the old Target location. However, I was told at one time that Manassas Mall does not own the land that it was built on. It was leased to them for 50 years back in 1972. That would make the lease end in 2022. Not that far away. Maybe they would tear everything down except WalMart?   more ›
