State transportation and Manassas city officials cut a ceremonial ribbon at the Route 28 overpass Thursday morning. All four lanes of traffic over the new overpass opened in mid-October.

The City of Manassas and Virginia Department of Transportation officials cut a ceremonial ribbon on the completion of the Route 28 Grade Separation Project, Thursday morning.  All four lanes of traffic over the new Route 28 overpass opened in mid-October and has significantly improved traffic flow, reduced congestion, improved emergency vehicle access and eliminated rail/vehicle interaction on Route 28, Manassas city officials said. The Route 28 project has been long-term, beginning in 1992 with a request to VDOT from the City of Manassas for a feasibility study to review relocating or upgrading the rail crossing on Route 28.   In 1995, VDOT and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (VDRPT) conducted a Railroad …

Horse crap. The project is nothing more than pork barrel crap. Manassas is the largest truck stop in Virginia. It has no redeeming value to the State of Virginia. The idea that a town or city that dumps thru traffic into a so-called "Old Town" is pure nonsense. No European country would allow such crap. Manassas is a stronghold of redneck morons who know nothing about city management, culture, or…   more ›

Manassas Mixed Martial Artists Participate in Sterling Event

Manassas fighters competed in the cage this weekend as OO Fights held its 21st event in Sterling on Saturday.

Saturday was another stacked card  from Northern Virginia's leading fight promotion.  Twenty-one amatuer and professionals fights came close to crowning two new OO Fight champs and thrilling the packed house at Dulles Sportsplex in Sterling.  The undercard had the usual excellent match-making OO Fights always delivers with some great highlights including Christian Banghart's submission of Shawn Carter.  In the usual show of great sportsmanship amongst fighters, when Carter failed to tap and went unconscious, Banghart held his legs up to help increase blood flow to his head until Carter woke up from his brief nap—making sure his opponent was OK before celebrating his victory.  Erik Krondstadt won his match against Nick Mansburger with a …

Fall Football: Manassas Park Falls Short Against Strasburg Rams

The Manassas Park High Cougars lose 4-3 in a hard fought Friday night match against Strasburg.

On a crisp Fall Friday night, perfectly made for high school football, the Cougars from Manassas Park knew they would have their hands full with unbeaten Strasburg.  In a game filled with big plays, the Strasburg Rams were able to make one more big play than the Cougars and came away with a hard fought 35-34 victory. The Rams received the opening kickoff and drove into Cougar territory, but eventually turned the ball over on downs.  On the Cougars first possession they methodically drove down the field mostly on the legs of running back Chuck Moorman and topped it off with a short touchdown run by quarterback Ryan Kolb.  The Rams quickly answered back when Rams quarterback Troy Gordon hit wide receiver Tommy Caison for a 34 yard touchdown …
