California man accused of forcing a 15-year-old to engage in sex for money at several Virginia hotels, Prince William County Police said.
A runaway teen from Maryland is home after police said a man helped her engage in prostitution at several Virginia hotels, according to Prince William County Police. Jamal Arris Thompson, 26, of 24th St. in Oakland, Calif., is charged with receiving money from prostitution, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, taking indecent liberties with a minor, procuring a person for prostitution and use of a communication device to solicit a minor. On Thursday, detectives with the county's special investigations bureau encountered a suspicious person near the Holiday Inn at 10424 Balls Ford Rd. in the Manassas-area, not far from Interstate 66. Organizers of the annual Joe Cassella 5K in Great Falls are outraged a photo from their race was circulating as part of a hoax in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings Monday. "We would like to clarify that the picture circulating on the web and Twitter of a little girl wearing a Joe Cassella 5K bib claiming to have been killed at the Boston marathon is being used fraudulently," the Joe Cassella Foundation wrote on its Facebook page on Tuesday. The photo was used along with the claim that the girl in the picture, age 8, died while running in Boston in honor of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting victims. A man is accused of pulling out a machete and threatening two people who confronted him about a minor car crash Sunday, according to Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok. Elmer Ernesto Espinoza Escobar, 39, of 8010 McLean St., is charged with attempted malicious wounding, brandishing a machete, hit and run and making threatening phone calls. Police were called regarding an assault at 5:31 p.m. Sunday near the 7400 block of Lake Drive in the Manassas area of Prince William County. The victim locked himself in a car to escape injury, according to Prince William County Police.
A Manassas man is wanted by area police after allegedly chasing an acquaintance with a large knife during an argument, Prince William County Police said. Hector Humberto Martinez, 36, is wanted for attempted malicious wounding and destruction of property. Two men were visiting a friend on the 8700 block of Linton Hall Road in Bristow on Sunday just before 9 p.m. when they got into a heated verbal dispute. During the dispute the suspect got a large knife and chased the victim, Prince William County Police Officer Jonathan Perok said. Prince William County Police are searching for a suspect who attacked and abducted a woman who was walking along a Manassas-area street. It happened Sunday at 9:40 p.m. on the 10000 block of Portsmouth Road in Manassas. The 20-year-old victim told officers a man approached her from behind, covered her mouth and tried to drag her into a nearby alley, according to Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok. A Manassas-area man is accused of sexually abusing two young girls over a period of nine months, Prince William County Police reports show. Jose Felix Mayorga, 30, is charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, Prince William Police spokesman Jonathan Perok said. The Special Victims Unit of the department began an investigation into the crimes on Friday. According to police, the investigation revealed that the defendant abused both girls ages 15 and 13 between June 2012 and March.
