BadWolf Brewery had a bad experience with a con man, but still plans to open this summer on Center Street in Manassas.
Jeremy Meyers keeps fondly glancing over at the large piece of stainless steel suspended from the ceiling behind the custom bar inside his business, BadWolf Brewery in Manassas. Giving it a quick pat, he tells his wife, Sarah, and an employee that he feels the installation of the ventilation system is a major step toward the slated mid-June opening of Bad Wolf, which he co-founded with Sarah. The young couple was running full speed toward the opening of what will be the city's first nano-brewery when they were tripped up by a scam artist. The couple and Manassas Police say Jeff Robinson posed as a contractor and took them for $3,200 after saying he would order and install the BadWolf ventilation system. Instead he skipped town leaving the …

Custom pottery can be made or purchased at Manassas Clay in Old Town Manassas.
You may be going on 30 or 40, but you are never too old to craft a handmade gift for your mother. If you are looking to do something artsy, inexpensive and utterly unique for Mother’s Day, then Manassas Clay, a pottery shop along Center Street in Old Town Manassas, may be a good place to start. “It’s one of a kind and it can never be reproduced,” said Marie Kennedy, a mother and a volunteer at Manassas Clay. Another gift idea is a pottery-making class; a good way to spend some time and not just money on mommy dearest. Just one class or a block of classes can be purchased at Manassas Clay, Kennedy said. One-on-one sessions as well as group classes are offered. In addition to working with the potter's wheel, the studio offers hand building …

The former home of KC;s Restaurant is a prime spot for business in Old Town Manassas.
It has a beautiful deck, plenty of parking and a prime spot on Route 28—and it's a shame it's vacant. We're speaking of the small empty building at Center Street and Stonewall Road that once housed KC's Restaurant. The structure still has the KC's awning on the outside, is clean and barely looks vacant at all. So what would you like to see here? Another restaurant? How about a nightclub ? Tell us in the comments section below.

Malones is a new restaurant in a Civil-War era church in the heart of Old Town Manassas.
Thursday, March 28, 2013
Malones of Manassas, a contemporary American dining restaurant, opened on Feb. 1 inside a renovated 1800's Presbyterian church.
Kevin Malone says every time he steps into his new Old Town Manassas restaurant and sees his patrons, it’s like a high school class reunion. Let’s just hope he wasn’t teased mercilessly in school. It’s been eight weeks since Malones of Manassas opened in the heart of Old Town, nestled unexpectedly in a refurbish old Presbyterian church that was built just after the Civil War. On Thursday afternoon, Malone sat around his restaurant’s new, gleaming granite-topped bar with his marketing team—two people he knows well and has personal ties to. Upstairs, in the former church sanctuary, his chef and the restaurant’s team work quietly at a group of tables clustered near the old church's windows that overlook old town. Everyone who works at the…

Old Town Manassas business owners ask for community support on Small Business Saturday and during the annual Merry Old Town Merchants Open House.
The more than 60 business and restaurant owners who call Old Town Manassas home have banded together for a campaign designed to keep Manassas-area residents’ retail dollars at home. The Old Town Business Association wants residents to shop locally because it is an investment in the community said Christine Finnie, owner of Whimsical Galerie in Old Town Manassas. A committee commissioned by the business association found that $68 of every $100 spent at a local business stays in the community, compared to just $43 spent at large chain stores. The committee also found that no money spent online stays in the community. “Shopping local isn’t just about spending your money in a local business. It is supporting your neighbor, your friend, …
