Manassas Park residents and even people from outside the city attended National Night Out Tuesday in Signal Hill Park.
More than 2,500 people visited Signal Hill Park Tuesday for Manassas Park's annual National Night Out celebration. The event was organized by Manassas Park Police who invited others from the law enforcement community, such as the U.S. Marshals and the Virginia State Police to the event. In addition to law enforcement, several business and restaurants were present and many provided free food and drink for the masses who attended. Within a matter of hours, attendees had consumed the following: Other businesses, such as Nationwide and PatientFirst, set up tents and offered brain food in the form of helpful information. On Aug. 2, in towns, cities, counties and neighborhoods across the country, law enforcement will come together with the people they are sworn to protect to celebrate National Night Out.
Manassas Park is slated to hold its National Night Out event at Signal Hill Park in less than a month. On Aug. 2, in towns, cities, counties and neighborhoods across the country, law enforcement will come together with the people they are sworn to protect to celebrate National Night Out. Some 15,000 communities from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several U.S. territories participated in the event last year, according to the website, National Town Watch. The event, which is in its 28th year, is purposed to bring civic organizations, neighborhood groups, businesses and community leaders together with police to prevention crime and drug-related issues.
