Proposed Manassas Drive Development Gets New Name

The developers of the site, Digital Park LLC, have long intended to charge the name of Park Place at The Station, a proposed mixed-use development.

A planned, mixed-use development on Manassas Drive and Railroad Drive in Manassas Park now has a new name. The development known as Park Place at The Station is now called The Palisades, Vanessa Watson, Manassas Park Planning and Zoning director, said. Watson said in a previous report that developers of the project, Digital Park LLC, did intend to change the name of development to one that does not include the words, “park,” “place” or “station.” The developers of The Palisades haven’t started preparing the site for construction yet, as the site is still being reviewed by the city, she said. The $55 million, 14-acre project bussiness and residental project was approved on Aug. 21 by Manassas Park City Council in a 5-1 vote just weeks after…

Palisades??? Next thing you know they'll want to change the name of Manassas Dr to Rodeo Dr. BTW, don't be surprised when they lower the speed limit to 25 for the rest of the road and the storefronts remain empty.   more ›

UPDATED: Council Switches Gears, Approves Manassas Drive Development Project

Developers of the project came back with additional perks to the project including water tap fees and additional retail space.

Manassas Park City Council voted Tuesday to approve a $55 million retail and residential development they voted down less than a month ago. The proposed 14-acre development known as Park Place at The Station will be built after all. The council voted 5-1 to approve the project; councilman Suhas Naddoni was absent and councilman Preston Banks voted against the project. In an Aug. 1 meeting, the council voted against the development in a 4-3 vote.  The developers of the project, Digital Park LLC, appeared before council again Tuesday and to amend the proffer conditions, saying they would now pay the city $1 million in water tap fees up front, add 5,000 feet of retail space to the project—2,500 in phase I and 2,500 in phase II—on top of …

very disappointed that the retail is empty at City Center. I agree that City Center retail space should be 100% leased before adding more.   more ›

City Council Rejects Proposed Downtown Development

Governing body turns down $4.56 million upfront payment.

In a heated meeting where, at moments, council members came close to yelling at each other, the Manassas Park City Council on Tuesday narrowly rejected a proposed multiphase residential-commercial development  and a one-time $4.56 million payment that would have helped the city balance its books. On a 4-3 vote, the council turned down the development, tentatively called Park Place at The Station, that would have had 40,000 square feet of retail for 10 to 12 stores and 304 apartments. The project would have had a 20-acre footprint and the first phase would have been built along Manassas Drive and Railroad Drive near the VRE commuter station. The owners of the proposed development, Digital Park LLC, were present for the vote but did not …

The fact is there wasn’t near enough commercial development in that proposal. From what I’ve heard there wasn’t any commercial going to be built and there was no guarantee it ever would. I’m so tired of the city jumping like a puppy dog after a bone every time someone waves dollars in the air. Please think of what’s best for the city in the future, not the big “now” There’s a couple guys on …   more ›

Residents Speak Out on Proposed Downtown Development

Manassas Park City Council will continue its discussion about the proposed Park Place at The Station, a multiphase residential/commercial development near the Manassas Park VRE station.

This month, several Manassas Park residents have expressed reservations and concerns about a proposed mixed-use development along Manassas Drive across from City Center. On Tuesday, Manassas Park City Council is set to discuss height waivers, the vacation of right-of-way and the rezoning of the land along Manassas Drive where the project, dubbed Park Place at The Station, is slated to be built. The combination residental/commerical development would have 20,000 square feet of retail for 10 to 12 stores and 304 apartments. Phase I of the project will be built on 14 acres. The entire development, including both phases, will be built on a total of 20 acres of land, according to city data. The first phase would be built along Manassas Drive …
