Marshall: Some School Staff Should Carry Guns

In response to the shootings at a school in Connecticut, Del. Bob Marshall has a proposal to arm some teachers.

National legislators are discussing the possibility of enacting tighter gun control laws after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. But in Virginia, a local legislator has proposed that some school staff be required to bear arms.  Del. Bob Marshall (13th district) has proposed a bill that would require schools to have some staff, certified in gun safety and competence, carry concealed weapons, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. His proposal comes on the heels of Gov. Bob McDonnell's comments on WTOP that the state should consider allowing teachers to carry weapons in schools. Marshall's Personhood Bill Passes House of Delegates

Manassas Park, Manassas delegate behind a house bill that has some applauding and others upset.

A bill that defines life as beginning at conception passed in the Virginia House of Delegates Tuesday, according to a Richmond Times-Dispatch report. The house passed the legislation in a 62-32 vote. Republican Del. Bob Marshall, who newly represents Manassas Park, Manassas and parts of Prince William County, sponsored the bill. Marshall began representing the area just over three months ago after being re-elected and because of the recent redistricting. He is also running for a U.S. Senate seat. Marshall's House Bill 1, if passed, would extend the rights of "personhood" to an human embryo at the very moment of conception—something that has many raising ire, according to a Washington Post report.  The newspaper also reports that the House …
