Both Manassas and Manassas Park are searching for new city managers to lead each city, after the men in the current positions announced they would both be departing in June. After about a year on the job, Manassas City Manager John Budesky announced  in March that he would be leaving his post to take care of a sick family member near Richmond. Meanwhile, James "Jim" Zumwalt, city manager of Manassas Park, told city council members last month that he wants to join his wife in retirement. Zumwalt began working as the city manager in January 2011, after serving in a similar role in Paduca, Ky. Zumwalt's last day is June 30, the end…

I hope Manassas City can find another city manager with the vision and passion that Mr. Budesky has brought to the job. Given the transformative point that the city is at - making significant investment once again in infrastructure and modernization, I hope we can find a similarly dynamic, committed person for the job. John's shoes are going to be very, very hard to fill.   more ›

Manassas Park Officials Want to Know if Residents Like Comcast Cable

The city's contract with the cable giant Comcast Cable TV expires March 2014.

Manassas Park City staff want to know what residents think about Comcast Cable TV before they make a decision about renewing the franchise agreement the city has with the cable giant. Only Manassas Park residents are allowed to send comments, along with their name, address and phone number to the city manager's office …

Drink to That: Cocktail Blogger Names Drink the,"Manassas Park"

A trip through Manassas Park resulted in a drink named in its honor.

If rush hour traffic on Route 28 in Manassas Park is driving you to drink, then  try a Manassas Park, a gin-based cocktail recently named after the small city.  Clarence Yoder, a writer for the blog, A History of Drinking, was traveling through Manassas Park one day in March and was inspired to name a drink after the city, Gregory Priebe the creator of the blog, said in an email. “I don’t live in Manassas Park, but I would drink a Manassas Park,” Yoder wrote in a March 27 post. The name is a spin on the name of another, more popular drink, the Central Park, Priebe said. "The drink itself is a variant of the established "Central Park" (a very Bloody-Mary-like drink, with a few tweaks) cocktail, developed when we were reviewing the Martin …
