It's National Bike to School Day. What's the status of an approved plan to build a sidewalk along Euclid Avenue from Blooms Quarry Road to Manassas Park Middle School.
It's National Bike to School Day, but it's unlikely students will be riding to Manassas Park Middle or High Schools, and it isn't because of the rainy weather. The City of Manassas Park received a $425,000 grant in February of 2012 from the Virginia Department of Transportation's Safe Routes to Schools program to build a sidewalk along Euclid Avenue from the middle school to Blooms Quarry Road. According to VDOT data, the project has a completion date of June 2015, said Robert Williams, the Safe Routes to School Coordinator for VDOT. The program is locally administered by Manassas Park, so that date may have changed, Williams added. The Manassas Park point of contact for the project couldn't immediately be reached on Tuesday for comment. …

You can see the details about Woodbridge High's ranking, and every other ranked high school by clicking on the markers in the interactive map above. The survey scores were then weighted and calculated using several criteria including on-time graduation and college acceptance rates. Ms. Christina Ross hit it big-and she didn't even have to gamble.
Wednesday wasn't the average dreaded hump day for Osbourn Park High teacher Christina Ross. A day of teaching seniors suffering from spring fever was well rewarded when she discovered she'd won the Virginia Lottery Super Teacher Award which comes with a personal $2,000 check. Award co-sponsor Supply Room Inc. also gave her a $2,000 classroom credit for supplies. "Well, I'm going quit my second job," a smiling Ross said when asked what she was going to do with her award money. The gift came as a total surprise to the Advanced Placement government teacher. School administrators lured Ross and her class to the Osbourn Park library for the big reveal by making up a story about something being wrong with the roof over her classroom. School …

Plus, Iguana models, cell towers in disguise, a Ladybug exodus and two birds ask, "Who cooks for you?"
Editor's Note: Patch has 31 sites in Virginia and D.C., and not a day goes by that something weird isn't happening somewhere in the area. Here's a look back at some weird goings on over the past week. Drivers at the Lake Ridge commuter lot near Interstate 95 saw more than the road crews and heavy machinery that have become standard commute scenery. Prince William County Police arrested a man April 19 when they found him dancing naked on the hood of his car. Without question, you should surrender to authorities when police have identified you as the suspect in a grand-larceny case. But we feel compelled to caution suspects about checking their pockets after a 27-year-old Annandale man turned himself in. Police in Falls Church say they …

Manassas Park High School students will perform the popular play, "Anything Goes" Saturday night at 6:59 p.m. at the Thomas H. DeBolt Auditorium inside the Manassas Park Middle School. A short video from Thursday's dress rehearsal is at the right of this story. "Aboard the ship there are many love interests; Lord Evelyn Oakleigh is engaged to a girl named Hope Harcourt. Her mother is aboard the ship also; she is very concerned with their wealth and finances and marrying into a wealthy family, but they don't really love each other," said Kristina Schenck, the director of the play and the choral …
