I tried to ask questions about the program and found it to be a very narrow fit. Guidance at OHS wasRead More not helpful and the process through NVCC appeared to be far from streamlined, especially if you wanted to deviate at all (i.e., lean toward a teaching degree). Plus the presentations about the program occurred AFTER class sign ups so that you would have to deal with OHS Guidance again to make changes. It sounded like a decent program that didn't have the logistics worked out. I hope they stick with the idea but allow more kids to modify to their needs. I was told by NVCC and OHS that this program was 'really more for seniors'..... that's not what I took away from the meetings, but, it's hard to argue at every turn.

Logistics aside, it sounds like a great program. Why isnt is available to kids from Battlefield,Read More which is an IT program school?

Sounds promising, but my son is in another program until July 20. Since he is going to miss part ofRead More it, he can't apply for another year. Most families already had plans prior to the late information. May have had better participation if it was presented at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. Maybe they can try this fall to prepare for next summer, or let students enter throughout the program, not just July 1.

You know that there were a lot more than three. Only three made their news available to the Patch.Read More You make the Manassas area out to be a bunch of dumb college students saying only three made the deans list.

That's an interesting point of view, Brad. I'm sure my readers are intelligent enough to know thereRead More are more than three dean's list students in Manassas and Manassas Park. Have a good day. Jamie

I can't read the application when I print it. Is there anyway Patch will let you upload it as a pdfRead More instead?

Hi Suhas! Thanks very much for your comment. So, it looks like the sidewalk will be completed thisRead More summer, and not in 2015 (I think is indicated in the above article). That will be a relief to us all!
Jamie M. Rogers (Editor) May 9, 2013 at 07:21 am
Oh good! So it's this summer? Great. I'm still waiting to hear back from my source with the cityRead More regarding the completion date. VDOT told me 2015, but the guy said that date may have changed and that I would have to ask the city.
Jamie M. Rogers (Editor) May 9, 2013 at 07:24 am
Hey Kris! Calvin O'Dell is the city employee I usually correspond with regarding this project. IRead More believe he works closely with VDOT officials concerning Safe Routes to Schools. Very nice fellow and super helpful. I'll reach out to him again later today for a completion date.

Of all the scenes that could have been chosen to display, THAT one was chosen? Seriously? That wasRead More not even close to a true picture of how good the play was.
Jamie M. Rogers (Editor) April 28, 2013 at 01:32 am
Hi Beverly. I was only able to stay for about the first 15 minute of rehearsal.t This was the mostRead More visually interesting clip I recorded. If you have video of the play, feel free to upload it to Patch

Not a single story I've read about the naked guy in Woodbridge had him driving. What makes him aRead More naked "driver"?

Woodbridge High School is one of the only schools to have graduation on it's grounds - the stadiumRead More outside. But it rains, it's indoors. I don't know other high schools don't have graduation on its grounds

Osbourn Park graduated up until last year on the football field.

What about Osborne High school, June 10 at jiffy lube live at 7. Same day as Patomac... who knewRead More Monday June 10 would be a prime day for a graduation.

I doubt even a semi could knock down 3 utility poles driving at 25 mph. But then, very few drivers,Read More cars or large trucks, drive the speed limit on Manassas Dr. Three schools on that road and neither MP police, County, nor Manassas police bother with enforcing it and therefore keeping the kids safe.

98% of the people would rather drive from Digital Drive to VRE than walk, so additional trailsRead More aren't needed. I see it everyday. A parking garage would be preferred where the existing lot is, but even a bridge over the traks to a parking garage might be acceptable. But VRE has already stated they won't pay for it, its MP's to fund. If some type of streetscape were being developed on Euclid, a sidewalk makes sense, although I understood it to be approved a while ago anyway. Otherwise there are no businesses there worth walking to. Another access should have been built from Euclid to 28 a long time ago, but I'm afraid it would just become a cut through for non-MP residents like Manassas Drive is now. Sorry for not belonging to the optimists club, but I've been let down too often.
Tammy Redman March 20, 2013 at 09:39 pm
The amount of traffic in the Manassas Park area has become increasingly worse. With the timing ofRead More traffic lights and 4 way stops it takes forever to go just to drive down Manassas Drive. The fact that they are adding more Townhouses at the corner of Manassas Dr. and Signal Hill/Andrew Dr. will only make the commute that much worse. They need to add more roads somewhere since we are the cut thru for alot of commuters now.
Kris Day March 20, 2013 at 09:46 pm
That's ok. There's room for realists too in an Optimist Club. :-)
