New Boy Scout Troop Forms in Manassas Park, Yorkshire

Those with sons interested in cub or boy scouting are urged to contact the local troops.

Manassas Park is now home to the newly-formed Boy Scout Troop 1372, the National Captial Area Council of the Boy Scouts announced this month.

The new troop comes on the heels of the success of Cub Scout Pack 1372, which is in its second year and is comprised of boys in the first through fifth grades. 

The new troop will hold meetings and conduct activities in  Manassas Park and Yorkshire for boys between the ages of 11 and 18 under the leadership of Scoutmaster Glen Grady and other registered and trained adult leaders.

Meanwhile, the Cub Scouts in Manassas Park continue to thrive and grow under the leadership of Cubmaster Kris Gardner, committee chair Tina Bliem and pack den leaders, according to the National Capital Area Council officials.

The goal of the Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts is to train young men in responsible citizenship and character development.

It also teaches them self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, community service projects, educational programs and at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations and leaders, according to National Capital Area Council.

 Boy Scout Troop 1372 meets on Mondays at 7 p.m. at Manassas Park Middle School, while Cub Scout Pack 1372 meets on the last Wednesday. Most months they meet at 7 p.m. in the Manassas Park Elementary School cafeteria.
