Weekend Planner: Second Battle of Manassas, U.S. Navy Concert

Looking for things to do around town this weekend?

What/When:  Saturday, all day

Why go: The main attraction this weekend for civil war enthusiasts, history buffs and the curious will be  when it was the site of Union Headquarters for General Irvin McDowell. 

The City of Manassas will also be providing a shuttle on Saturday that will transport visitors from the Manassas Museum to Liberia Plantation from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information about this and other events taking place in the City of Manassas, visit visitmanassas.org.

What/When: Meet Thomas Brown and Zachary Chipps of RISE Phoenix, Saturday, 7-9 p.m.

Why go: The Chipps are cycling 7,000 miles cross-country to promote suicide awareness. They believe in “Creative Self-expression through devoted self-reflection. Allowing the time needed for self-reflection while working through emotional trauma or any life experience can act as a vehicle for radical change in an individual’s life.”

Why go: Enjoy free family outdoor entertainment with the U.S. Navy's premiere country band, the Country Current.  Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy the show.  Picnics welcome.
