Manassas Park Dog Park Undergoes Repairs, Plans 'Pup Rally'

The June 29 derecho damaged the dog park's gate; the park was closed for a week.

The city is preparing to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Manassas Park's first dog park with a Pup Rally fundraiser planned for July 21.

The celebration comes less than a month after the park had to close for about one week because one of its fences was blown down by strong winds from the that moved through the area on June 29.

The dog park is located behind the which is on Adams Street.

Staff members were able to replace the fence with a temporary one, earlier this month, Catherine Morretta, director of the Manassas Park Department of Parks and Recreation said this week.

A new permanent fence is slated for installation this week, she added.

An insurance claim will be filed for the lost of the fence,in the meanwhile, the city paid for the repairs and a reimbursement expected, she added.

The new fence will be up in time for the Pup Rally which will feature several vendors, an agility course and gifts.

Rabies vaccinations and microchipping services will also be available.
