Snow Day Dilemma: Big Pile of Days Off Will Impact School Calendar

Wednesday's snow day has drained the last of Prince William County School's available hours.

After you're done with the driveway, it's time to dig into the Prince William County Schools calendar and find some extra hours.

On Wednesday, students woke up to a fresh coat of snow on the roads, and yet another day off from school. But the district only has a limited number of snow days built into the calendar and they're gone.

School officials had already sounded the warning alarm that extra time in the calendar had run out after last week's snowstorm

“We are really down to the nitty gritty,” schools spokesman Phil Kavits told The Washington Post. “Our superintendent and staff are looking carefully at the options . . . and given the way the winter looks, we will probably need some more time here.” And that was before Wednesday.

Where do you think the district should look to make-up for the lost time? Holidays? Longer days? Extended school year? Tell us in the comments!
