Parents, students and staff packed the Manassas Park Middle School auditorium to recognize outstanding students Thursday.

Many Manassas Park Middle School students were recognized during a special assembly at the school this morning.

Parents and staff proudly watched as 286 students received certificates for outstanding academic excellence during the first semester of the school year.

Neff went on to say that the foundation education at the elementary and middle school prepares students for the more rigorous demands of high school. Currently, 36 percent of the students at Manassas Park High School are enrolled in Advanced Placement classes and plan to take Advanced Placement exams, Neff said. He encouraged students to keep this in mind for the future.

“We have the most wonderful children here in Manassas Park,” said Sunshine Jefferson. Her daughter JaNeese was honored today during the ceremony. “I am not surprised that she made the honor roll, this is my sixth child in the Manassas Park School system and I could not be happier.”
