U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman was successful in his primary battle against fellow Republican Anthony Riedel in the 1st District GOP primary June 10.

Wittman will be on the ballot with Norm Mosher (Democrat) and Xavian Draper (Libertarian) in November for the 1st District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Wittman, who lives in Montross, has served as the U.S. Representative for Fredericksburg and surrounding areas (see map here) since 2007. He is on the Armed Services Committee, the House Natural Resources Committee and the Republican Study Committee. Wittman was in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2005 – 2007.

Anthony Riedel works at the National Right to Work Foundation, and worked on Ron Paul’s presidential primary campaign. He has also been active volunteering for local, state and national Republican political campaigns.

In a statement following Tuesday’s primary, Riedel congratulated Wittman on his victory and on running a campaign focused on the issues.

In 2012, Wittman defeated Democrat Adam Cook.
