Trunk-or-Treat Event Planned for Halloween

Fun alternative to trick-or-treating planned for Oct. 31 in the parking lot of the Manassas Park Community Center.

If you are looking for something the whole family can do on the scariest day of the year, fear not, Manassas Park city employees have got it all figured out.

The Trunk or Treat event, hosted by the Manassas Park Community Center and the Manassas Park Police Department, is planned for Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the front parking lot of the community center.

Police cars, fire trucks and vans—some decorated for Halloween—will be parked with the trunks parked and full of candy for the children, Manassas Park Community Resource Officer William "Quiz" Quesenberry said of the event.

The event is designed to be a fun and well-lit and safe alternative to Halloween trick-or-treating, he added.

Children can easily become distracted in the fun and excitement of Halloween while crossing streets and could be injured.

"Picture this: A huge parking lot with the back ends of vans and trucks decorated in a variety of fun themes, complete with candy, games, food and treats.  What a fun way to spend the evening as a family," Quesenberry said.

In additional to having gobs of Halloween candy on hand, the event will also feature a moon bounce, hayrides and pumpkin decorating.

Vampire-like creatures—also known as Red Cross blood bank volunteers—will also be at the Trunk or Treat in their bloodmobile seeking blood and plasma donors.

Manassas Park Police officers will also be on site.
