Snow Emergency Declared for Manassas Park

The snow emergency and snow emergency route parking restrictions go into effect at 8 a.m. Thursday.

The expected snowfall has led Manassas Park officials to declare a snow emergency for the city, effective 8 a.m. Thursday.

The snow emergency is in effect until at least 8 a.m. Friday, a full 24 hours, said Manassas Park city manager James "Jim" Zumwalt.

Those roadways are:

  • Manassas Drive from Baker Street to Golf Court
  • Denver Drive from Manassas Drive to Rugby Road
  • Digital Drive from Manassas Drive to West Carondelet Drive.
  • Matthew Drive
  • West Carondelet Drive
  • Polk Drive from Manassas Drive to Old Centreville Road.

Violators' vehicles will be ticketed and possibly towed.

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING! CHICKEN LITTLE LIVES IN MANASSAS PARK, AND IS IN CHARGE OF SNOW EMERGENCY. HOW CAN YOU DECLARE A SNOW EMERGENCY, AND ALLOW THE KIDS TO GO TO SCHOOL?

Better question is....how can you declare a snow emergency that results in no snow whatsoever. Not even a flurry.

Probably so that the Public Works employees could get some OT in. It was nice to drive down a mostly open street though. Too bad it can't always be that way.
