NOVEC Offers Internet Service to Customers

The electric co-op recently announced it is offering Internet service.

Manassas Park residents now have a new Internet provider option through an unlikely source—an electric co-op.

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) launched NOVECnet a product of the electric provider’s affiliate company, NOVEC Energy Solutions (NES), according to a NOVEC release issued this month.

NOVECnet is powered by the Exede Corporation which has a new satellite called ViaSat that is designed to serve some one million people, said Gilbert Jaramillo, NOVEC Energy Solutions CEO.

“NOVECnet is good news for the many people in our area who don’t have broadband access or alternatives. For the first time, they’ll be connected to the World Wide Web and they will have superior service,” he said.

Manassas Park residents have long had Comcast and Verizon Fios as choices for Internet service.
