Manassas Park Officials Want to Know if Residents Like Comcast Cable

The city's contract with the cable giant Comcast Cable TV expires March 2014.

Manassas Park City staff want to know what residents think about Comcast Cable TV before they make a decision about renewing the franchise agreement the city has with the cable giant.

The agreement between Comcast and the city expires in March of 2014, but before talks begin, staff need to determine the community's interests and needs, as well as how the company is performing, Manassas Park officials said.

In short, Comcast is allowed to put cable and other facilities in the city street rights-of-way in exchange for the company meeting customer expectations and technology standards, city officials said.
