The Manassas City and Manassas Park Democratic Committee is hosting an unassembled caucus on April 21 to elect delegates to attend two democratic conventions this summer.

Democrats who are registered to vote and who live in Manassas Park or Manassas can participate in the caucus, democratic committee officials said this week.  The caucus kicks off at noon at the Manassas City Police Department and lasts for two hours.  The event is free, but attendees must sign a declaration indicating they are a democrat.

It doesn't cost anything to vote for delegates.  Any democrat registered to vote in one of the two cities can run for delegate or alternate at the 10th Congressional District Convention on May 12 in Ashburn or the Democratic Party of Virginia State Convention on June 2 in Fairfax.

The Democratic National Convention is planned for September in North Carolina, officials said.

Ten delegates and two alternates from Manassas City and three delegates and one alternate from Manassas Park will be elected, officials said.

Those interested in running for delegate must file with EJ Scott, the chair of the Manassas City, Manassas Park Democratic Committee, by Monday, April 16 at 5 p.m.

File in person at 10127 S. Grant Ave. in Manassas; by phone at 703-368-4541 or by e-mail at EJScottVA@gmail.com. The filing fee $20.

Filing forms and more information about the delegate selection process is available through Scott or Barbara Warren at warrengayden@gmail.com or by calling 703-349-5102.
