Learn to Think Like an Officer: Manassas Park Police Academy

The Manassas Park Police Department is hosting a police academy this month.

Manassas Park Police are preparing to host a citizens police academy for city residents looking to learn more about law enforcement.

The academy begins on April 25 and lasts about 11 weeks.

Almost all of the classes will be on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The purpose of the academy is not only to subject everyday residents to training similar to that of police rookies, but to build relationships between law enforcement and the community.

Citizens police academy students will learn about law enforcement operations through field trips, simulations and classes, most of them held at the Manassas Park Police Department on Manassas Drive.

Academy organizers said there will be some offsite sessions, but transportation to those will be provided.

For more information, call Community Resource Officer William "Quiz" Quesenberry at the Manassas Park Police Department at 703-361-1136.
