City Plans Two Public Hearings on Changes to Comprehensive Plan

Two public hearings concerning an update to the land use chapter of Manassas Park's Comprehensive Plan are scheduled for this month.

Two public hearings concerning an update to the land use chapter of Manassas Park’s Comprehensive Plan are scheduled for this month.

 The first of the hearings is tonight at a meeting of the city’s Planning Commission held in the city council chambers in City Hall.

 The planning commission will hear comments from Manassas Park residents about the update to the plan and then come up with a recommendation for the Manassas Park Governing Body.

 A second public hearing is scheduled for Jan. 24. After that hearing, the governing body is expected to vote on the matter.

The code of Virginia requires every city to adopt a Comprehensive Plan, which is described as general guide to the location, character and extent of proposed or anticipated land use, including public facilities. It provides guidance for land use development decisions made by planning commissions and governing bodies.
