City Dedication Ceremony Held for New Computer Lab

Manassas Park City Schools students donat 10 computers to the Manassas Park Community Center for a new computer lab.

A brand-new computer lab will open at the this week, thanks to hard-working student hands and a generous donation of computers from Manassas Park City Schools.

 The lab was officially dedicated on Tuesday night, during a special ceremony held during the Manassas Park Governing Body meeting. Selected families also received refurbished computers on Tuesday.  The lab will open to the public on Thursday.

 The 10 computers were donated to the community center by the Technology Assistance Corps, also known as the TAC Club, a Manassas Park student organization that refurbishes donated computers and gives them to needy families and community organizations through the .  The TAC Club forms a partnership with the Virginia Student Training and Refurbishment (STAR) Program.

 The computer lab will assist older Manassas Park residents through instructional programs, provide job skills and training and support teens who visit the community center, city officials said.

 The lab is free to all members of the community center, but a daily rate applies for non-members who want to use the lab. The lab is open during the same hours as the community center.
