34 percent of Manassas Park Middle School Students Make Honor Roll

Middle school students enjoyed an honors ceremony and breakfast with their parents this morning for achieving a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or better during the second semester.

Manassas Park Middle school students were honored Friday for outstanding academic performance. Middle school Principal Eric Neff,  superintendent Dr. Bruce McDade and several staff members recognized 226 students or, 34 percent of the student population at the middle school for a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or better during the second semester of the school year.

Middle school student London Solomon was also recognized during the ceremony for winning the school spelling bee.

“As we move into the latter half of the school year. I would like to encourage you all to start journaling your accomplishments and the amount of time you donate to the community ... with an eye on the future," Neff said to the students.
Neff encouraged the students to look to the future and think about joining the Junior Honors Society, which will be offered at Manassas Park Middle School within the next year.

Manassas Park City Council member Suhas Naddoni was the guest speaker at Friday's award ceremony. Naddoni, who is originally from southern India, spoke about the need to set oneself apart from the seven billion other people living on this Earth.
“I am very proud to live here, I love giving back to the community,”  said Naddoni,who came to the United States as an adult and earned his citizenship.

Naddoni gave the students some tips for succeeding in life. His tips included:Practice your talents, set yourself apart, eat right, go to college, have fun, get a good job, save some money and give back to the society that raised you.

At the end of Naddoni’s speech, the children cheered as he said his motto: Reach for the Moon and Mars; even if you miss, you’ll be among the stars!
Students received a free pizza coupon from Bella Vita and an honor roll certificate.

“It was wonderful to see so many students recognized,” said Pam Blake, whose grandson Dillon earned a spot on the honor roll. “Mr. Naddoni was a wonderful speaker and we’re just happy we could be here!”
