Trail of Car Fluid Leads Police to DUI Suspect

The suspect was arrested not long after the crash, Manassas Park Police reports show.

A trail left by leaking car fluid led police directly to a hit-and-run suspect, Manassas Park Police said on Wednesday.

It happened just before midnight Saturday on the 100 block of Manassas Drive where police responded to a hit and run involving a 1999 Acura and a 1988 Pontiac.

While responding to the scene, a police officer caught sight of a car that appeared to have just been in a crash and pulled it over.

Meanwhile, a second officer followed a trail of car fluid from the scene of the crash to the suspect's vehicle, the 1999 Acura.

The driver of the vehicle, a Manassas Park man, was uncooperative with police, smelled of alcohol and appeared to be under the influence, police said.
