Sterling Man Accused of Driving Drunk With a Child Passenger

Police said one of the passengers in the suspect's vehicle was holding a child on her lap.

Manassas Park Police arrested a Sterling man who they say was driving while intoxicated with an unrestrained child in the vehicle. 

It happened early Sunday at 2:26 a.m. on Centreville Road, Manassas Park Police reports show.

An officer stopped the driver of a 2007 Nissan who he suspected of driving while intoxicated. While talking to the suspect, the officer noticed the strong smell of alcohol coming from the car, according to police reports.

There was also a passenger in the vehicle with an 11-year-old child in her lap, police said.

The suspect was arrested and charged with driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle, no driver's license and failure to have child in restraint.  He was held on $2,500 secured bond. He is slated to appear in court on Aug. 16.
