Police arrested a Manassas Park man who they say chased a man through Manassas Park in his car, at one point getting out his car and threatening the victim with a machete.
Juan William Alvarado, 34, of Peakwood Court is charged with attempted malicious wounding, brandishing a machete, hit and run, reckless driving and destruction of property, Manassas Park Police reports show.
It happened Oct. 1 at 6:20 a.m. on Manassas Drive when someone called E-911 dispatch and reported two cars driving recklessly, Manassas Park Police reports show.
Moments later, the driver of one of the cars, a blue Ford Focus, called E-911 and said he was being chased by the driver of a red Toyota Tundra which had struck his car several times.
The victim told dispatchers the chase began at Travis Street and then the suspect followed him to Colfax Court and then to Manassas Drive. The hit and run happened at Colfax Court near Manassas Drive and Route 28, police reports show.
At some point the suspect got out of the car, pulled out a machete and broke the victim's passenger window before fleeing the scene, the victim told police.
The victim wasn't injured but was visibly shaken, police said.
Police asked for leads in the case and received two, which lead to the Oct. 6 arrest of the suspect, who remains in custody without bond.
