Manassas Park Teen Struck With Baseball Bat in Mall Parking Lot

Police said an 18-year-old Manassas Park man was hit on the head with a baseball bat at the Manassas Mall Thursday.

A Manassas man was arrested Thursday after police said he attacked a Manassas Park teen with a baseball bat, Prince William County incident reports show.

Daniel Martinez, 19, of 11419 Golden Leaf Circle is charged with one count of malicious wounding.

It happened Thursday at 5:22 p.m. at JCPenney in Manassas Mall.

The incident began as a verbal altercation inside the store that moved into the parking lot.

During the encounter, the suspect struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat, police reports show.

The suspect fled the scene, but was later found by police on Ginger Circle.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening.

Martinez is being held on a $5,000 bond. A court date is set for December.
