Manassas Park Pickpocket Suspect Arrested

A second pickpocket suspect remains at large, police said. The following arrest information was supplied by the Manassas Park Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police arrested a man who they say picked the pockets of a 77-year-old man and then used his credit cards to make purchases.

Suspect Chris Kiser of Manassas is charged with grand larceny in connection with the crime, Manassas Park Police Detective Regan Miller said.

Police are still searching for another suspect, Spotsylvania resident Aaron Lester, because of his alleged role in the crime.

Police said they think Lester may be eluding police by staying with a relative in Manassas, Miller said.

Investigators were able to identify the suspects, thanks to tips received by the Manassas Park Crimesolvers, Miller added.

The pickpocketing incident occurred on May 8 at the 7-Eleven store at 8521 Centreville Road in Manassas Park.

One of the suspects said he was 90 cents short on his purchase at the store, and asked the victim for cash to make up the difference, Manassas Park Police reports show.

The victim went out to his car to get the money and realized his wallet was missing when he came back inside.

The victim later told police he remembered feeling something brush his pants pocket, but didn't think anything of it at the time.

The two suspects ran away before the victim could return with the change.

Kiser is expected to appear in court on his charges in July.
