Manassas Park Man Accused of Firing Air Pistol, Hiding it in Pants

A Manassas Park man was arrested after police said he fired an air pistol and then tried to hide it in his pants, according to a press release issued by the Manassas Park Police Department.

A Manassas Park man was arrested after police said he fired an air pistol and then tried to hide it in his pants, according to a press release issued by the Manassas Park Police Department.

 Joseph Fininen, 18, of 8271 Woodhue Court, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, discharging an air gun and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to police reports.

 It happened July 15 just after midnight near LaPaz Place when a police officer on foot patrol heard the gunfire.

 The officer found a group of teenagers and the suspect with the air gun under his shirt, tucked into the waistband of his shorts.

 An air gun is a weapon that uses compressed air to fire pellets or bullets.

 Another teen, 18-year-old James Owens of 8662 Woodcue Court in Manassas Park, was also arrested and charged with being drunk in public, police reports show.

 A 17-year-old girl was released into the custody of her parent shortly after the incident, according to police reports.

 Fininen and Owens were transported to the adult detention center in Manassas.

Owens was released once he sobered up and a $1500 bond was set for Fininen.

 The pair are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 22.
