Burglary Report Put Manassas Park Middle, High Schools on Lockdown Friday Morning

The schools were on lockdown for less than an hour, administrators said.

A burglary on White Pine Drive in Manassas Park forced two of the city's schools into lockdown mode early Friday morning.

Manassas Park Middle and High schools went into lockdown mode at 9:15 a.m. Friday after police told school administrators of the reported crime in the area, according to a post on the Manassas Park City Schools Facebook page.

"With the safety of our students and staff being our highest priority and based on the information supplied to us by the MP Police Department, we immediately took action and went into school lock down (shelter-in-place) at both the middle school and high school," the post reads.

Manassas Park Police responded to the 8200 block of White Pine Drive after a victim reported a burglary, police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
Officers and canines responded and eventually took four people into custody in connection with the crime.
The lockdown was lifted at 9:56 a.m., according to school division officials.
