800 Hot Dogs, Hamburgers Consumed at Manassas Park National Night Out

National Night Out was held in Signal Hill Park in Manassas Park Tuesday.

Manassas Park residents fellowshipped and ate until their hearts were content on Tuesday during the annual National Night Out.

How much food? City officials provided these statistics from Tuesday night:

800 Hamburgers
800 Hot dogs
300 Pretzel dogs
600 submarine sandwiches
95 large pizzas
115 cases of soda
200 cases of water
35 cases of snack chips
and 25 watermelons

All the food was donated by local businesses.

One of the main purposes of National Night Out, which is held the first Tuesday of every August, is to send a message to criminals that the community is banded together with police to combat crime.

"The importance of this effort cannot be overstated, as it allows law enforcement agencies to promote community unity and partnership in fighting crime together," Manassas Park Police Community Resource Officer William "Quiz" Quesenberry said in a previous report.
