600 Pounds of Drugs Collected on 'Take Back' Day

Manassas Park Police collected 61 pounds of medication on Saturday.

Despite the gloomy weather, more than 600 pounds of expired or unused prescription medications were collected in Prince William County on Saturday, the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The nationwide prescription drug “Take Back” initiative seeks to prevent pill abuse and theft. The rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are increasing at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs, according to DEA officials.
