10 Manassas Park Residents Displaced by House Fire

Six adults and four children are being assisted by the Red Cross after the fire broke out Tuesday night, Manassas Park fire officials said.

Six adults and four children were displaced after their home caught fire Tuesday evening, Manassas Park Fire Marshal Mark Joyner said in a press release.

It happened a 7 p.m. at a home at 209 Old Centreville Rd. in Manassas Park, not far from the Prince William County border. 

The first firefighters on the scene said they saw smoke coming from the back of the house and then found a fire in a utility room in the basement underneath a staircase.

Firefighters from Manassas Park, Manassas City and Prince William County worked quickly to stamp out the fire, which was later found to be caused by an electrical branch circuit inside the utility room, where the fire started. 

No injuries were reported, but preliminary reports show that the fire caused about $20,000 in damage.
