Giving Back Year Round – By Brian Hanifin

It’s that time of the year again…The Holiday season! You drive around and see all the beautiful decorated houses and all the happy people. Your family and close friends are coming in town, it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Do you ever notice how much happier and kinder people are around this time? You see charity support, whether it be a donation or volunteering, the giving spirit is in full effect bringing smiles and warmth everywhere. I just always wonder… why does this only have to be one month out of the year? Why can’t we act this way all year around? There are less fortunate all year around and being kind and generous does is not limited to to just December.

So how about in 2014 and every year after, we all be kind and generous year around. Go out and support and good cause. If you are looking for something local, we have plenty here in our community! We are trying to raise money for a skate park in Manassas Park, you can volunteer with our Buddy Club, a special needs adult group that does amazing things all year around, we also have a dog park that we are trying to raise money for, and you can always volunteer to be a coach in any of our great sports programs! There is always something out there or someone out there that needs help.

I would like to end with my favorite quote that I always try to live by; “Treat everyone with kindness and respect, not because of who they are, but because of who you are.”-Unknown.

I wish everybody a Happy Holiday and hope everyone has a happy healthy new year.
