Woman Misses Free Slurpee Day, Crashes Car in 7-Eleven Parking Lot

Four children were in the car at the time of the crash which happened at 9:13 p.m. at the 7-Eleven at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Manassas Drive.

A Chevrolet driven by an 83-year-old woman sped backward through the parking lot of a Manassas Park 7-Eleven on Thursday, hitting two cars and leaving at least two people injured.

The driver, a Manassas Park resident who isn't being identified, told Patch she drove four children to the store around 9 p.m. to get free Slurpees, but discovered the promotion had ended two hours earlier.

She was back behind the wheel when her car sped backward through the parking lot of the Euclid Avenue store, striking two more cars, Manassas Park Police said.

One of the four passengers, an 11-year-old, suffered a broken collar bone, while the other three children received minor or no injuries, police reports show.

There were three 11-year-olds and one 15-year-old in the car with the driver at the time of the crash.

"God is with us," the suspect said in a Friday phone interview.  The suspect said she was not injured, but was at home resting after the crash.

A passenger in one of the other cars complained of neck pains, Manassas Park Police said.
The suspect was not arrested but is charged with reckless driving in connection with the crash and was released Thursday night after signing a summons to appear in court.
