Railroad Work Begins Tuesday in Manassas Park

Lanes of Manassas Drive will close beginning Tuesday for work on rails near the Virginia Railway Express stop in Manassas Park, city officials said this week.

Norfolk Southern, the owner of the tracks, will  do repairs Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each of those days.

Only one lane will be closed in each direction of Manassas Drive, so cars will still be able to use the roadway, city attorney and interim city manager Dean Crowhurst said.

Electronic message boards are set up around Manassas Park to let residents know about the work, he added.

Norfolk Southern was suppose to begin the work on July 19 but postponed it.
The company is doing similar work in the city of Manassas near the historic train depot. Check out video of crews replacing the railroad ties here.
