PWC Board Votes to Approve Redistricting Proposal
Meeting "minutes" from Monday's live blog by Dale City Patch editor Nathan Curby.
The Board of County Supervisors held a special meeting Monday evening to adopt a redistricting plan. The public had a chance to comment at the meeting on the proposed redistricting plan. The board has presented another revised proposal after Coles Supervisor Martin Nohe last week. The new proposal makes changes intended to keep the River Oaks community together by putting it entirely in the Woodbridge district.
You can watch the meeting live on the county website.

7:55 p.m. Several residents have spoken about the changes to the River Oaks community. Some were in favor of the changes: Brenda Kelly Nelum and NAACP member Rachel Tellis thanked the board for the changes and said that keeping the community in the Woodbridge district would preserve the representation of minorities, specifically African-American voters. Jean Reynolds and Gregg Reynolds argued that the community is still divided with part of the community that is not yet lived in.
8:10 p.m. Neabsco district Supervisor John Jenkins made a motion to adopt the board's proposed map. Dumfries Supervisor Maureen Caddigan seconded the motion. Caddigan said the changes to the River Oaks community were clearly the right thing to do after she had visited the area and seen that it was a connected community of interest.
