Manassas Educator Hoping Invention Will End up on Walmart Shelves

Robert Fabian invented teendrivingsticker.com said he needs votes to win an online contest that will land his product on Walmart shelves.

The new school year will probably go very well for one Manassas educator, that is, if he wins a Walmart contest that will land his unique invention on the retail giant's store shelves.

Robert Fabian and his two sons came up with teendrivingsticker.com, a service that provides a bumper sticker with a short code that other drivers can use to report a teen's good or bad driving.

The business idea has already made it through one round of Walmart's Get on the Shelf Program. The more votes a product or service receives the more likely it is to advance through the rounds, said Fabian who is hoping the Manassas community will support the safety feature by voting for it online.

The second round of voting ends on Sep. 2. Votes can be submitted here and at getontheshelf.walmart.com.

Teendrivingsticker.com works by providing a bumper sticker with a short code that other drivers can use to report a teen's good or bad driving.

If another driver takes note of something, they enter the code on the website and leave a note, which is then sent via email to the parent of the child with that code.

The monitoring service is $20 for two years. The service is a way that the community can work together to keep all children safe, said Fabian who works in technology at Osbourn High School in Manassas.
