Former Olympic coach returns to Manassas Park with his Peak Performance Swim Camp.

The is the venue for a special holistic swim camp for children and young adults being held this week.

The Peak Performance Swim Camp, a swimming program geared toward aspiring competitive swimmers and those already engaged in competitve swimming, begins today in Manassas Park and concludes Friday.

Students, all between the ages of 9 and 18, had to have a command of the four basic swim strokes before being accepted into the camp, Brenda Cunningham, a Peak Performance program manager, said in an earlier report.

Most people who are enrolled in the camp are already competing at the club or even the national level, performance camp officials said.

The camp was founded by former Olympic trainer Nick Baker who teaches his students the Swimming Triangle, which is a method that urges swimmers to use their mental, physical and technical skills in concert to improve their swimming.

Elite training, senior advanced training, junior advanced training and private training are all available at the camp.

The camp is based in Orlando, but is a touring camp that travels around the U.S. all year,  Cunningham said.

This is the camp's second time in Manassas Park this year, the first camp was held in April at the community center.

Baker either teaches or supervises each class and all the instructors were trained by him personally.

Peak performance staff pride themselves in having a low instructor-student ratio which helps them incorporate holistic teachings and self-confidence in students.

The Peak Performance Swim Camp functions as a day camp and an overnight camp.  Overnight campers are treated to fireworks and a visit to the Air and Space Museum in Chantilly.
