424 Lose Power After Contractor Strikes Utility Line in Manassas Park

Most residents regained power by 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

A contractor working on Digital Drive is apparently behind the power outage that left hundreds of Manassas Park homes in the dark Wednesday morning.

Contracted crews accidentally struck a utility line on Digital Drive, near the Virginia Railway Express stop, disrupting electrical service to about 424 Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative customers, Priscilla Knight, a NOVEC spokeswoman said.

Crews restored power to 103 customers by 9:30 a.m., she said. Power for another 324 was expected to come online by 10 a.m., she added.
