'Boobie-Q' for Breast Cancer Awareness is Saturday at Clarke's Grill
The Manassas Park-based volunteer group, "Shirl's Girls" has a barbecue fundraiser each year so they can walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk in Washington, D.C.
Stuff your face for a good cause Saturday at the annual Boobie-Q at Clarke's Grill and Sports Emporium from 1 to 6 p.m. in Manassas Park.
The Boobie-Q is actually a barbecue fundraiser held each year to raise funds for a group of walkers wishing to participate in the annual Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk in Washington, DC.
Several media outlets reported Tuesday that the Susan G. Komen Foundation, would not host a walk in the District and in six other cities in 2014 because of economic reasons.

It takes more than a $1,000 per walker to participate in the race. Funds raised at the Boobie-Q will allow Shirl's Girls, a Manassas Park-based team of volunteers that walk each year in the race, to participate, Bobbi Beers, team captain and the founder of Shirl's Girls, said. The team is named in honor of Beers' mother Shirley Beers, a three-time cancer survivor.
