City Celebrates Fall with Cornucopia on Saturday

More than 50 arts and crafts vendors will be at the Saturday for the city's inaugural cornucopia.

A cornucopia symbolizes the beauty of Autumn and the meaningfulness of Thanksgiving, making it a fitting name for the city's fall arts and crafts fair, Jennifer Deuterman, marketing manager for the department of parks and recreation, said.

Many people in the community have great talents and cornucopia is way to showcase them, she added.

"This will be a great event because each vendor is selling something unique and passionate to them," Deuterman said. "With the variety of items being sold, you can get a lot of shopping done for the holidays, birthdays and parties."

Halls and classrooms in the community center's will be chalk full of vendors—57 to be exact—significantly more than the center's goal of having just 30 vendors. All vendor spaces are now filled.

"When you get to the event, we have bags for you to put your purchased items in, as well as a map letting you know where all of the different vendors are located, if you were looking for something specific," Deuterman said.

Attendees can expect variety of arts and crafts vendors, jewelry vendors, knitting vendors, accessory vendors, photography vendors as well as organic food and homemade goods.

Well-known companies such as Pampered Chef, Mary Kay and 31 Gifts also will be represented at the event. 

Doors open at 9 a.m. The event ends at 2 p.m.
