Boobie-Q Breast Cancer Fundraiser Planned for May 12

The 4th annual Boobie-Q is May 12 from 2 to 7 p.m. in Signal Hill Park in Manassas Park.

An enthusiastic crew of Manassas Park-area women are gearing up to host the on May 12 in .

As the name implies, the Boobie-Q is a pig roast fundraiser put on each year by the as a way for the group to raise money to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk For The Cure in Washington, D.C.

Manassas Park resident Bobbi Beers founded the group and later named it after her mother, Shirley, a three-time cancer survivor who attends the walk and the Boobie-Q each year.

This will be the younger Beers' ninth year particpating in the walk.

Admission to the Boobie-Q is $25. Tickets will be sold at the entrance to the event or in advance by sending an email request to shirlsgirls3day@aol.com. and Children under 12 are admitted for free.

Sides dishes donated by will complement the roasted pig which is prepared each year by the husband of one of the Shirl's Girls. Desserts from Happy Cakes Eatery in Manassas will top off the dinner.

There will also be a silent auction and a raffle for children.

The "Spirit Band" is providing the entertainment for the evening.
