Movie Review of Thor!!

Movie review of The Film, Thor.

Since Patch has indicated we can blog about anything we want, I would like to discuss a review of the latest Marvel movie to hit theaters.  Thor is the next addition in Marvels' Avengers line up.  First was Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr., followed by The Hulk with Ed Norton and Iron Man 2 with you guessed it, Robert Downey Jr.  Thor brings to screen the next member of the Avengers.  Another Note, Natalie Portman is in yet another movie.  She has become the Samuel Jackson of the movie industry.  I believe she has had five movies in theaters in as many months.  Another feature that I actually appreciate is casting a virtually no name as the lead.  This can make or break a film.

On to the review, the film maker makes the normal mistake in movies like this.  The bulk of the movie is dedicated to educating the audience to the origins of the hero.  I think in most cases, the origin can be less and give the audience more story.  The movie outside of the main character had several accomplished actors and actresses.  Anthony Hopkins plays Thor’s father.  Renee Russo plays Thor’s mother.  Natalie Portman plays the love interest.  Idris Elba plays the gate keeper to Thor’s universe.  Kate Dennings plays the assistant to Natalie Portman and comedic side kick.

The movie had plenty of action and special effects, but something was lacking.  The previous three movies had me very entertained.  With all of the good reviews I was sure I was going to be adding this to my collection soon.  It was a good way to spend two hours, but I don't believe I will be watching this movie again.  Perhaps the next movie in the series, Captain America, will be better.  It is set to hit theaters July 2nd.
