AWWW, the Holidays are almost over! It is now time to start thinking about your New Year’s Resolution. I am not going to bore you with a ton of ideas for your 2013 resolution. Instead, I just want to remind you that you are never too old to learn something new. Over the last few days at home with my family, I was reminded of how hard it can be to learn new things. My 4 year old is a whiz on my husbands iPad, however, when I try to utilize this new technology, I find myself completely frustrated. When it comes to computers, I am used to typing on keyboards, using a mouse to navigate, and clicking the back button when I wish to view the previous webpage. Don’t get me started on playing computer games. I like using the arrow keys to play games. The iPad has me completely out of my comfort zone! There is no keyboard, mouse or back button, and no arrow keys! While I understand that this piece of technology is supposed to make my life easier, I find it giving me more of headache instead. And to add insult to injury, my 4 year old has to help me navigate on the device.
While navigating the iPad is just one of many things I am NOT too old to learn; it is on my bucket list of things to learn in 2013. Other items on my list of things to learn include: scrapbooking, tennis and cake decorating. The Manassas Park Department of Parks and Recreation is here to help you learn something new in 2013. We offer many adult classes to include:
-Adult Beginner Swim Lessons (Activity #3045)
-Facebook, Twitter, Social Networking for Beginners (Activity #2745)

-Focus on Cakes (Activity #2741)
-Group Tennis Lessons (call 703-335-8872 for more info)
-Naginata (Activity #2775)

If there is a skill you are hoping to learn in 2013, but we don’t offer a course, please let us know! And keep your eye out of iPad 101 which will be taught by my 4 year old!
Don’t forget – we also have adult swim lessons available! You are never to old to learn how to swim!
Talk to you all next year!
