Winter Weather Advisory for Manassas Area
The National Weather Service has issued the advisory for Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park and the Fredericksburg area, including the counties of Spotsylvania, Orange, and Stafford.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the area until 2 p.m. Monday.
The Manassas area could see rain changing to sleet and snow Sunday evening through Monday afternoon, according to National Weather Service reports.
Snow accumulations of one to two inches are expected. The heaviest snow is expected Sunday night, and is predicted to mix with sleet Monday morning before changing to rain Monday afternoon.
Temperatures will be in the low 30s Sunday night into Monday morning, rising into the upper 30s Monday afternoon.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is urging caution for Monday morning's commute. Crews are mobilizing at midnight to clear and treat roads as needed, VDOT reported Sunday afternoon.
"VDOT crews and hired personnel will target Interstate 95 and major commuter routes such as Route 1, Route 3 and Route 17 to keep travel lanes open for the morning rush hour," VDOT said.
Motorists traveling tomorrow morning are encouraged to check road conditions on 511Virginia before starting their trip, reduce their speed, and allow extra travel time.
