Snow Emergency Declared for Manassas Park
The snow emergency and snow emergency route parking restrictions go into effect at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The expected snowfall has led Manassas Park officials to declare a snow emergency for the city, effective 8 a.m. Thursday.
The snow emergency is in effect until at least 8 a.m. Friday, a full 24 hours, said Manassas Park city manager James "Jim" Zumwalt.
Parking restrictions on city streets deemed emergency snow routes are in effect from 8 a.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday.
Those roadways are:
- Manassas Drive from Baker Street to Golf Court
- Denver Drive from Manassas Drive to Rugby Road
- Digital Drive from Manassas Drive to West Carondelet Drive.
- Matthew Drive
- West Carondelet Drive
- Polk Drive from Manassas Drive to Old Centreville Road.
Violators' vehicles will be ticketed and possibly towed.

Better question is....how can you declare a snow emergency that results in no snow whatsoever. Not even a flurry.

Probably so that the Public Works employees could get some OT in. It was nice to drive down a mostly open street though. Too bad it can't always be that way.
